Run Archery

And Now For Something Completely Different...

Fancy trying something just a little bit different this summer?

If the impending Paris Olympics has inspired you to try your hand at something new this summer then how about combining your love of running with something very different and giving Run Archery a go?

But what exactly is Run Archery I hear you ask? Simply put it is a shooting discipline connecting archery with running and is is similar to the sport of biathlon. Arran Coggan, Archery GB’s Director of Sport Development, said: "Run Archery provides an alternative discipline that may help with retention and recruitment of archers and, in the future, runners. It's a great way to challenge yourself and raise your heartrate even before you set foot on the shooting line!"

For runners looking to try something new, Derbyshire Archery Club will be hosting a Run Archery taster event on Saturday 27 July at their grounds at Hartshay. The event is targeted at giving runners (no archery experience necessary) the chance to try the exciting sport of Run Archery.

A spokesperson from the club says: "Think of Run Archery a bit like Biathlon in the winter Olympics… but instead of snow, you’ll be running and shooting with a bow and arrows!"

Following two pilot events at Newark Castle Archers and Redhill Archers in Birmingham, Archery GB clubs have a number of Run Archery competitions set to take place around the UK in 2024, details of which are available at the Archery GB website.
