Big Bear Events plan to offer 'all the distances and all the fun' at its newest event, which is set to descend on Northamptonshire in 2024. Trailfest is a new type of event at one of the event organiser's favourite locations - Salcey Forest, and will take place on 24 March.

A spokesperson explains: "Building on the success of our Salcey 50 events of the last few years we're increasing the choice to allow everyone to take part! The different events will use different parts of the forest ensuring everyone gets to see the amazing Salcey Forest. We’ve got five distances for runners to chose from - 10K, half marathon, marathon, 50K and 50 miles.

"Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early season 50 miler in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K, TrailFest is for you! The idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in an amazing forest.

"Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible too! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates we’ve got the perfect distance for you."

The majority of the routes will be on well maintained pathways, organisers tell us 'there isn't a meter of asphalt (except 2 road crossings for the longer events!)' and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor. It's got it all - stretches of crushed stone pathways, grass paths, single track woodland, thick forest and a small section of grassland.

This event provides a great format for clubs and running groups too so if you've got a mixture of abilities you can all come along. Once you're done get yourself a coffee from @grounds_cafe and support your friends as they complete their event.
