Tonbridge Half Marathon 2016

Runners ready for Tonbridge test

Charity is at the heart of this Kent countryside classic

Up to 1,600 runners are expected to tackle the 11th Tonbridge Half Marathon on Sunday 9th October 2022 and there's still time for you to join them at this BARR Gold standard event.

Tonbridge Half Marathon was jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Tonbridge and Tonbridge Lions Club and is now owned by the Tonbridge Half Marathon CIO charity, with representatives of both clubs on the charity board.

Race management is in the capable hands of Nice Work, the Sussex-based organisers with a portfolio of more than 200 events across the UK. Managing Director, Rachael Wood said: “It’s great to be part of such a fantastic charitable event. We look forward to putting on a great race for runners and encourage supporters to come along and cheer on the route."

The course is based at The Judd School, Brook Street, Tonbridge and is well known for its challenging hills and stunning scenery. With full road closures, the 13.1-mile (21K) route follows an accurately measured, pan-shaped course. Starting in South Tonbridge, runners will enjoy picturesque Kent countryside to the crowd-lined streets of historic Leigh village, which is passed in both directions.

The route is ideal for experienced runners and those wanting to move up from a flat to a more testing course. All finishers receive an in-house designed bespoke medal. Souvenir technical t-shirts will also be available to purchase. Entry fees are from £26 in advance to £30 on the day.

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to leading runners and age group winners. All race profits will be donated to charities supported by the Tonbridge Lions Club and Rotary Club.

The course records are 1:11:04 by Dan Bradley last year and 1:22:32 by Maria Heslop in 2018 – both of whom represent the local Tonbridge Athletic Club that provides many of the officials and marshals who help to make this event run like clockwork each year.
