This is an annual event on the Hebridean island of Tiree which is well known for its unspoilt beaches, clean air, sunshine, crystal waters and relaxed pace of life. When you add a fantastic 10K and Half Marathon, it is plain to see that Tiree really is a fantastic place to pay a running visit.

Speaking about their event, organisers say: "All abilities welcome whether you walk, jog, run, or are racing for a podium spot and a PB. The Tiree 10K & Half Marathon is about the enjoyment of running, the challenge of the race, and embracing the stunning Hebridean environment.

"Tiree is all about enjoying the outdoors, the challenge of the race, encouraging each other, and embracing the stunning Hebridean environment you’re running through."

The event kicked off in 2006 and has grown to be a much anticipated event on the island calendar. Visiting runners are welcome along with local residents and organisers say they have had people travel from as far as Slovakia, Spain, Brazil, Canada, Germany and Australia just to do the race.

The atmosphere is friendly and continues into the night with the legendary event ceilidh. There's a prize giving in the evening with prizes for top overall results, age groups, teams and some spot prizes.
