The Magic Of Morlich Returns

Make new year plans for The Highlands...

The 2024 Loch Morlich Running Festival is set for 6 January in the heart of the breathtaking Cairngorm National Park. This is the perfect opportunity to kickstart your new year with friends and family, whilst pushing yourself to one of the most stunning finish lines in the UK, Loch Morlich Beach.

Organisers, Fitnessat58degrees, say: "We are renowned for delivering unforgettable fitness experiences in unforgettable locations and over the last few years, have developed a great reputation for our accessible, personal and friendly events in stunning locations. Our Loch Morlich Running Festival has been an event growing in popularity for the last five years now and we are delighted to say, it's back!"

An event designed for everyone, participants will make their way through the canopy of Glenmore Forest towards the shores of Loch Morlich beach on either a '5K' or '10K' course. Both distances are on forest tracks and the exact distances are actually 5.6K and 11.4K. As you would imagine, the route includes stunning views throughout and is well-marshalled with plenty of support.

Speaking about the unique race distances, organisers say: "Every year, we get feedback about the fact the course is longer than 5K and longer than 10K, we make this very clear in the pre-event information and this allows us to finish on the beach. Thank you for your understanding, we did warn you!"

Starting at Hayfield, Glenmore, the day begins with a warm-up session led by Fitnessat58° instructor and Team GB athlete, Sam Cairns. Following the forest tracks, runners will then be guided by marshals towards Loch Morlich Beach where they will be greeted by delicious home bakes and a handmade wooden medal to keep as a reminder of their success.
