Trot On Down To Tibberton
A village fete atmosphere is guaranteed at this scenic Shropshire event...
Shropshire's Tibberton Trot 10K is a community minded road race with a lovely course, prizes for the top three, age group and Tibberton resident and a free drink at the finish. What's not to like about this autumn race, scheduled for Sunday 10 September?
The Tibberton Trot 10K and Fun Run first appeared in 2019 and, after a successful debut, had to wait for a re-run in 2022 due to the pandemic. Despite the gap, the race returned with a flourish in 2022 with runners enjoying the anti-clockwise, mixed-terrain course, which features around 50m of elevation changes.
Organised by Newport & District RC and the local community, the chip timed event begins at 10am with a 1K Fun Run for all ages and a goody bag for each finisher. Then at 11am it is the turn of the 10K which goes on a scenic tour of Tibberton village, along a mix of quiet country lanes, bridlepaths and fields.
The prize list includes the top three men and women, age group winners and the ‘Owen Meredith’ shield for the first man and woman from Tibberton & Cherrington Parish. There is a bespoke medal, goody bag and a beer voucher, which can be redeemed at the local village pub, for everyone else.
The local community shop and village hall also offer cooked food such as bacon baps for purchase on the day, with funds raised from the race going back into causes that benefit the community. Organisers say of their event: "A start and finish on the playing fields by Tibberton School gives the race a village fête feel."
