New medal for the Ho Ho Glow Santa Dash

Sign up for Sheffield’s charity Santa Dash & glow with pride

Virtual option included at this year's Sheffield Santa Dash

Run For It organisers Mel and Darren Wilkinson have made additions to the popular 2020 Sheffield Santa Dash 5K and 10K – a Santa ‘Ho Ho Glow’ Neon Night Run and a Virtual Run for anyone who is unable to take part on the day (24 December).

The enthusiastic duo are inviting people to get the Christmas festivities off to a running start and help raise funds for charity – the much-anticipated annual event is open to all. There is a big fun emphasis at the Santa dash which is definitely needed as Christmas will be different from usual due to Covid-19 and the consequent restrictions.

Held on Christmas Eve, the runs will take place at 11am, 2pm and 5pm enabling individuals and families to schedule these into their arrangements, e.g. last minute Christmas shopping. There will be a visit from Santa, a warm-up to get things moving, followed by the 5K and 10K runs/walks, all of which adhere to the Covid guidelines on a traffic-free, accessible route.

The event is raising much-needed funds for Living Beyond Mouth & Face Cancer, a charity that is close to Darren’s heart as this year, he faced his own battle with a rare tumour or ‘Ameloblastoma’ of the jaw. This was a life changing experience for Darren and his wife Mel with plenty of ups and downs on the way but the support of friends, family and the running community kept them going during this time and 7 months on, they are back to what they do best which is organising family-friendly events.

Every person who enters receives a Santa hat and a free, personalised technical t-shirt and a medal plus a mince pie at the finish.

The Sheffield Santa Dash sells out every year and places are likely to be snapped for the 2020 event.

Book now via the My Mate Daz website.
