Run A Mile For That PB Smile
Run with the wind at your back in this new one mile running event...
Fancy a flat, fast and furious one mile race with a guarantee of no headwind? The Scottish 1 Mile scheduled for 3 July at Edinburgh’s Silverknowes can offer you just that!
2022 will see the first staging of this flat, fast and furious 1 mile event. Taking place along the wide, tarmac seaside route at Silverknowes Promenade, the start and finish line will be determined by the direction of the wind to ensure you are not battling a headwind but instead may benefit from that holy grail… a tailwind!
Entries opened earlier this week and organisers have already seen a healthy take-up with runners keen to test themselves over the iconic mile distance. Commenting on Facebook, Sonia Johnston said: “Oh this sounds really interesting… great way to push super hard.” While Angela Malcolm enthused: “I will be there!!! Fabulous this is happening and a definite 1 mile PB to add to my portfolio! Last one was a few years ago and this will be a blast for sure!!!”
There will be three heats culminating in a final and the event will consist of separate Senior and Junior races. Asides from a possible PB, there will be medals for all finishers as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Male/Female and 1st Male/Female in all age categories, V40, V50, V60, V70.
A spokesperson from race organiser, Blast Running said: "All our runs are chip timed however our spirit is that we are here to support your personal running goals."
