Runners At The Loughborough Half Marathon

Take on the tough Loughborough Half

Beautiful and tough: those two words describe the course waiting for runners who enter the 2020 Loughborough Half Marathon on Sunday 29 March. This is a challenging race for anyone looking for a spring half marathon while the Team Relay is just right for Couch to 5K groups.

Registration has opened for Loughborough Half Marathon and Team Relay Challenge organised by local charity Living Without Abuse (LWA) and held in the Garendon Estate, Leicestershire.

Online entries sold quickly for last year’s race and the organisers anticipate the same this time as there are only 800 places on offer. Sign up and experience a testing race consisting of two, 4.5 mile loops and an out and back section from the start/finish that together equals 13.1 miles in superb countryside.

The route has a bit of everything terrain-wise. There are footpaths, pavement, tarmac, trails and fields along with a few hills to tax the legs even more especially the second time around. Water and jelly baby stations will keep energy levels and spirits up along the way.

For those runners not quite ready for a half marathon there is the relay for teams of four with the distance divided between them. This is a good choice for people doing Couch to 5K.

Entry fees have stayed the same as last year, there is free parking and every finisher will receive a bespoke medal, goody bag, water and banana. All monies raised from the event go to Living Without Abuse.

Register for the 2020 Loughborough Half Marathon via the Living Without Abuse website.
