Southport 10K & Half Marathon setting out on a new course to success
Early bird discount available until 14 March.
Now under new management, Southport 10K & Half Marathon is back for the eighth time on Sunday 27 June 2021 and there is a new route and venue. Register for a bracing run on a traffic-free course to blow away the lockdown cobwebs in this North West resort.
Organisers Fylde Coast Runners are planning a seaside special whilst working within existing guidelines from the government and UK Athletics in regard to outdoor sport, running activity and competition. All being well with the Covid-19 roadmap, it will be, to borrow from the film Grease, “summer running, had me a blast” for participants in the Southport event as they race along elegant Lord Street with a PB in their sights and receive a medal as their reward.
There is live music and entertainment at the start and finish and more along the way as they explore this popular location, famous for its beaches, Food and Drink Festival, nightlife and Flower Show. What’s more, Lord Street will be closed to traffic, allowing 10K and Half Marathon runners to pass through the town centre. Both courses are accurately measured and the distances officially certified.
Entry requirements are a minimum age of 15 and over for the 10K; 17 and over for the Half Marathon and all abilities and backgrounds are welcome. Race packs will be posted out a week before the event and these will contain up-to-date information, bib numbers and timing chips.
Register before 14 March and take advantage of the ‘Early Bird’ 20% discount. Enter at the Fylde Coast Runners website.
