What could be better than a summertime bimble through the beautiful Bromsgrove countryside? The Summer Bimble Bumble is back in 2024 with a 30 June race date and entries now open for the scenic trail event.

There are 5 and 11 mile options with race action starting and finishing at the Park Gate Inn in Bromsgrove. The 5 miler sees runners cover a route that takes them across the beautiful Dodford countryside, into a woodland valley before entering the spectacular scenery of Nutnells Wood.

The 11 mile route tracks the 5 mile course for the first 2.5 miles but then turns left out of Nutnells Wood into more breathtaking scenery in the Chaddesley Wood Nature Reserve. A new section follows a fairly steep uphill road, across more fields, through more beautiful woods followed by a lovely downhill section for tired legs. Runners will then head across a bridle path before a welcoming road descent towards the Dodford Village Hall.

Speaking about the course, organisers comment: "The terrain cannot be compared to running on the road. It’s a challenging course and takes approximately an extra 20% effort/time to complete. It’s mostly trails with stiles, kissing gates, fields, mud, woodland and long grass. Very little road use, very undulating with steep areas as well as some downhill breathers. Expect to get dirty!"

The Park Gate Inn makes for a perfect end point where participants can relax in post run glory with running buddies overlooking the beautiful countryside. Make sure to take some clean clothes/shoes to change into for the post run party at the pub where there are local real ales, ciders and food.
