There are only a few days left to sign up to Wild Deer Events' popular Gibside Trail Runs which are set to take place at the scenic Gateshead location next week (1 May).

As well as 5 and 10K trail races, organisers have recently announced that trail shoe brand, Merrell will be there doing shoe demos for all participants! So why not treat yourself doubly with an evening of racing followed by a new pair of shoes?

The venue - Gibside Estate, is one of a few surviving 18th Century designed landscapes and was fashioned with two things in mind, spectatular views and wow moments! With over 600 acres of gardens, woodland and countryside you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. It is perfect for wildlife spotting including wild deer and some of the highlights of the estate include a neo-classical chapel, restored stable block and a grand ruin.

Speaking about the event, organisers told us: "The races take place on an evening so we have the place to ourselves and unlimited free parking. All those taking part can expect a medal, Wild Deer merchandise (hat, buff, bottle or socks), snack and a drink. You can't say better than that!"

Looking ahead to the summer and Wild Deer Events will return to the stunning location on 5 June for a lapped half-marathon. Runners will complete three laps for the half marathon distance around the Georgian Estate. The race is perfect for a midweek, long training run for runners signed up for an ultra or marathon later in the year.
