Step up the pace & make a difference
Greenham Trust has informed runABC South that the 2011 World Championship 1500m silver medallist, Hannah England, will be the guest of honour at their exciting Step Up 4 Good 10K. The fourth edition of this annual charity fundraiser will take place at one of the UK’s most prestigious racing venues, Newbury racecourse, on Sunday 13 October 2019.
This is the running event that is a challenge, a celebration and gives back to the community. Since 2016, Greenham Trust’s Step Up 4 Good 10K and family fun runs have encouraged more than 1,800 people to get active. Over the past 21 years, Greenham Trust has donated £58 million across 5,000 charities and is working with the community, local authorities, businesses and other charities to improve lives.
The new venue of Newbury racecourse allows the organiser, Chris Sumner of Racesolutions to expand and enhance the event: "We are passionate about producing exceptional running races that inspire people to run. Our aim is to offer every runner, no matter their age, speed or goal, a sense of achievement and lots of fun."
Hannah England, who won her first national junior title in 2005 and went on to compete at two World Championships and the London 2012 Olympics, will be on hand to start the races and cheer everyone on. Hannah said: “It’s fantastic to see a different kind of running event that encourages all ages and abilities to get involved, get active and also raise money for local charitable projects in need. It really is a win, win situation for all.”
The inclusive nature of the event sees the addition of a Para-Mile, to give children under-15 with a physical or mental impairment the opportunity to run, jog or walk a mile for free.
The new, flat and fast course will appeal to PB-hungry athletes and aspiring runners of all ages and abilities. Adults and children not racing the 10K can enter either the popular 3K Fun Run or Family Mile, where they can run for a local good cause through fundraising platform The Good Exchange.
Registration is open for this year’s event, so step up now to make a difference!
