Stafford 10K celebrates 20 years in 2026 and to celebrate organisers want your input...

Excitement is already building for the return of the Stafford 10K, which celebrates its 10th anniversary on 20 September this year. Organisers have launched an early bird entry offer, encouraging runners to secure their place for what promises to be the biggest edition yet.

However, it is a new and unusual idea that is generating the most buzz, with the local running community being invited to help design this year’s race route. To mark the milestone, runners and supporters are being asked to submit their own course ideas, highlighting favourite roads, hidden gems and sections that would bring the best atmosphere on race day.

Organisers say: "There are a few key requirements, with the start and finish set to remain on Victoria Road and the race village staying in Victoria Park - but we are genuinly excited to see what everyone comes up with. We want this year’s Stafford 10K to be shaped not just for runners, but by them."

Entries can be submitted using mapped routes or activity files, with the winning designer receiving free entry to the race along with event t-shirts for themselves and a friend. The deadline for submissions is 30 April.

The idea has already been met with enthusiasm from runners. Mike Spinetto commented that it was a great concept, adding that runners know the best routes through experience rather than from behind a desk. Lindsey Underhill also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a brilliant idea and reflecting on her long connection with the event, which began with her first ever 10K.
