runner at City of Manchester 10K

The price is right for top North West 10Ks

Organisers of the North-West's top summer-autumn 10K series have announced a generous approach to their 2019 programme with super-value pricing and plans to donate any profits to the recently-formed Running Bee Foundation.

The dates for the triple header are:

  • UKFast City of Manchester 10K Sunday 7 July
  • UKFast City of Salford 10K Sunday 8 September
  • City of Preston 10K Sunday 29 September

Each of the 10ks is priced at £18 (£16 affiliated) and the entry fee includes a technical T-shirt and medal. There are also plans for a special medal to be awarded to runners who complete the 3 legs of this North West 10k challenge.

The series kicks off at UKFast City of Manchester 10K and a start/finish at the Regional Athletics Track adjacent to the Etihad Stadium. The venue, with its echoes of 2002 and the Commonwealth Games, provides the perfect atmosphere for this family-focused occasion.

The feature 10k is a top quality event – tech T-shirt, medal, chip-timing, markers every 1k, well-marshalled on closed roads – plus the athlete village programme will keep runners and supporters entertained throughout.

In addition to the feature 10K race, there is a Toddler Trot which underlines the City of Manchester 10K as a great family day out.

UKFast City of Salford 10K (8 September) is next up and again this is an event with loads to offer and at a great value £18/£16 entry. Once more an athlete's village will provide the focus on the day as runners follow a flat route around Salford Quays and Trafford Park before crossing the bridge back into Media City to the finish line.

There will be also be a kid's race and lots to do at the event; organisers also suggest making a day of the Salford race with a visit to the nearby ITV studios (with its tour of Coronation Street), Old Trafford stadium or the Imperial War Museum.

This brilliant mid-year triple header concludes three weeks later (Sunday 29 September) at City of Preston 10K. This is a great chance to build on the two previous races and aim for a PB on a scenic course through autumnal Avenham Park and along the River Ribble. Again the Running Bee Foundation pacemaker team will be in action to support the many PB efforts on the day and the children's race makes for another family-friendly event.

To mark the first full year of the Running Bee Foundation's association with the big three 10Ks, runABC North has teamed up with Sports Tours International to bring you a special £5 discount on the list prices for the three races. That means that entries will be £13 (£11 affiliated) for UKFast City of Manchester 10K, UKFast City of Salford 10K and City of Preston 10K. This offers is only available until Wednesday 20 March so grab your places at these amazing prices (using the code RUNABC5) while you can.

All profits from the three 10ks will go directly to the Running Bee Foundation which supports local charities in Manchester, Salford and Preston.
