The Sodbury Slog is a challenging 10-mile multi terrain race organised by Bitton Road Runners, with mud, hills, water and obstacles all forming part of the experience.
Starting at Chipping Sodbury School, the route heads through the market town before moving into the surrounding countryside. Much of the course crosses private working farmland, with runners tackling muddy fields, water features and strategically placed obstacles before returning to the school. The route can vary due to farming and livestock, and the race distance is not certified.
More than 100 marshals support runners around the fully signposted course, with two water stations along the way. Held on Remembrance Sunday, the event is preceded by an exhortation, two minutes' silence and the Last Post. The Sodbury Slog has its roots in the Beagle Bash, first held in 1990.
