Amazing Northampton Run To Step Out In September
Three races, one all-inclusive event showcasing the best of this East Midlands town.
Entries are open for the Amazing Northampton Run taking place on Sunday 17 September from Go Beyond Challenge. Here's a chance to experience history on the move in the Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay or 3-Mile Race and be rewarded with a medal and t-shirt for your efforts.
The event was previously known as the Northampton Half Marathon and is popular with all types of runners, from first timers to club athletes. It has been rebranded as the Amazing Northampton Run and Go Beyond Challenge owner, Simon Hollis wants everyone to be a part of it, whether they are a runner, marshal, business, charity partner or local resident.
Northampton is famous for its boot and shoe industry with a global reputation for top-quality footwear. The town will see a different type of footwear on 17 September as running shoes hit the streets, parks and riverside, passing three sporting venues and through the university campus.
Participants will follow a new course on closed roads starting from the Market Square which includes landmarks such as the Edwin Lutyens designed war memorial; the Museum, the Royal and Derngate Theatre. Fans of Northampton parkrun will recognise the Racecourse.
The action begins with a warm up by Run Leader, Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor Michelle Lewis (host of ‘Running Tales’ podcast). Michelle shot to fame during lockdown with her street dancing sessions in fancy dress for her neighbours on Sunday evenings encouraging them to join in and have fun at the same time. She’ll be doing the same at the Amazing Northampton Run; getting runners loosened up and ready for 13.1 miles and there will be a team of pacers to help everyone achieve their goals.
For more information about the half marathon, relay and 3-mile race and how to enter, visit the Amazing Northampton Run website.
Runners are invited to ‘Race for Free’ by raising £100 (or £160 for a team) for one of the event’s 28 charity partners in return for a complimentary race entry. See the website for details.
