The Shelton Striders 10K is a flat and fast race based at Boulton Lane Park Community Centre in Alvaston, Derby. The event includes the main 10K alongside an approximately two mile Fun Run, with both races starting and finishing close to the community centre.
The 10K follows a varied route incorporating the old canal path, local pathways and Infinity Way before returning towards the race finish. Its predominantly flat profile gives runners good potential for a quick time, while the mixture of surfaces provides more variety than a conventional road race. The Fun Run uses the same start and finish area, following the old canal path and nearby fields over its shorter course.
Organised by Shelton Striders, the event combines an established local 10K with an accessible shorter race for the wider community. The race village and headquarters are based at the community centre, while a portion of each 10K entry supports the event's nominated charity, maintaining a strong connection between the race and the local Derby community.
