Scurry Around Cramond Island

One-Of-A-Kind Sunset Run

Don’t miss the chance to run a mile out to sea and back before the tide returns...

Runners looking for a unique challenge should head to the Firth of Forth for the Scurry Around Cramond Island 5-Mile Run which will return on 23 May this year. The sunset race offers breathtaking views across the River Forth, with Edinburgh’s skyline and the Forth Bridges providing a dramatic backdrop.

Speaking about their unique event, organisers say: "Join us for this stunning multi-terrain race that ventures out to sea and back just before the tide rolls in. Watch your feet don't get wet!"

The route starts near the Boardwalk Beach Club Café, weaving through a scenic off-road loop behind the Roman Fort and Cramond Kirk before leading runners down to the tidal causeway. From there participants will run a mile across the exposed seabed to Cramond Island, take on a short hill climb and circle the rocky and sandy shores before racing back to the mainland.

With an expected 6.40pm start, runners will have 50 minutes to reach the 3.5-mile mark and return before the tide begins to cover the causeway. The course, featuring tarmac, grass, single-track paths and rocky beach terrain, demands careful footing and a sense of adventure.

At the finish line all participants will receive a race memento and organisers Scurry Events will be supporting local charities including the South Queensferry RNLI.
