'Salopping' Through The Snow
Entries are now open for what promises to be one of Shrewsbury’s most cheerful events of the year...
The countdown to Christmas continues with news that the Salop Santa Dash will return to Shrewsbury on 6 December. Hosted at Salop Leisure, the event promises a lively and family friendly 5K run or walk that welcomes everyone from dedicated runners to those simply looking to celebrate the season in a fun and active way.
Participants are encouraged to embrace the Christmas spirit by donning Santa suits, which are provided as part of the entry. Organisers say: "The sight of hundreds of Santas making their way around Salop Leisure has become a much loved local tradition. There are no age restrictions for the main event and families, clubs and groups are all invited to take part."
Those aged eight and over can look forward to even more excitement with access to an assault course that will be open once the run is complete. Every participant will receive a Santa outfit and a finisher’s medal, with outfits available for collection from 1 December to ensure everyone is ready to line up in full festive style.
The day offers more than just a dash through Shrewsbury. The popular LovePlants Christmas Market will be open throughout the event, giving visitors the chance to browse seasonal stalls, pick up local gifts and enjoy festive treats. Hot chocolate, mulled wine and Christmas shopping make it an ideal day out for spectators as well as participants.
The Salop Santa Dash continues to support Severn Hospice, with all money raised going directly to the charity and its vital work in the community.
