This weekend's (20-21 January) Midlands programme sees a focus on shorter race distances with a number at the traditional 5 miles and at 10k.
All the action takes place on Sunday beginning with the Abingdon 10K from MCC Promotions. Runners follow a three-lap course around the track at Tilsley Park, Oxfordshire and the flatness of this route means a strong chance of a PB.
Gloucester is the setting for the 24th annual Linda Franks 5-mile race, hosted by Almost Athletes. This event was created to pay tribute to the late Linda Franks, an accomplished runner and treasurer of the club who passed away suddenly in 1994 but whose memory lives on.
Next is a stopover in Staffordshire for the Kidsgrove 10K, one of a series of races from Andrew Vickerman at Gold Events. It starts at 10am from Clough Hall and is held on roads and two parks in Kidsgrove with a bespoke medal and Buff-style hat for every finisher.
Our last port of call is the Tempo Winter Series 10K, the fourth out of five races in this series. It takes place on a hilly course with each of the five races alternating in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction. There is a memento for runners who complete all five.
