The Running Festival at Goodwood start 2018

Chequered flag ready for second Running Festival at Goodwood

All the early bird entries have been snapped up for the return of the Running Festival at Goodwood, despite there being five months to race day on Sunday, 14 July 2019. UK Run Events promise a bigger and even better event than the highly successful inaugural festival at Goodwood in October 2018, when 800 runners competed in the adult races.

The move to a summer date will see a new Summer Running Party taking place to support the three main races: a Family 1.1 Mile, a 10K and Half Marathon. The Family run also represents the final 1.1 mile stage of the West Sussex Primary Schools Half Marathon Challenge.

Competitors in all the events can look forward to running on the smooth tarmac of the race track and to a glorious finish in the pit lane, with cheering from spectators in the grandstand. The Summer Running Party will start from 11am with a BBQ and post race prize ceremonies.

The aptly-named Pop Up Pit Shops will again be providing runners with everything they need for race day and beyond, with top running brands offering limited edition items and special race day discounts. SRG race pacers are confirmed for both the 10K and the Half Marathon.

Race director Joe Williams said: “We are thrilled with the uptake for The Running Festival at Goodwood 2019 and can’t wait to deliver another memorable event for runners this summer. Here at UK Run Events we believe that running is very much about the community and our Summer Running Party will give us a fantastic chance to celebrate this, bringing together runners of all abilities and backgrounds and making the event so much more than just a race."

Race entry includes a technical race souvenir T-shirt, bespoke medal, free official race photos, free massage, chip timed results, SRG pacers, race treats and carton of water at the finish, plus free parking and access to the Summer Running Party after the race.

Entry fees for the Family 1.1 Mile are £5 for children aged 10 and under accompanied by an adult and £8 for adults and children aged 11+ running unaccompanied. All finishers of the Family 1.1 Mile receive a medal, carton of water and treat bag. The Family 1.1 Mile starts at 9am, the Half Marathon at 10.30am and the 10K at 10.40am.
