Runners are ready to Run Sandringham
Battle royal expected at Sandringham Estate
Run Sandringham is a runABC South featured event for good reason. The inaugural Good Running Events promoted Run Sandringham last year saw 902 finishers in the half marathon; 296 running the 5K and a well-attended Community Mile for everyone, with around 1,400 in action in all three events on a soggy Sunday morning in Norfolk.
This year's Run Sandringham is on Sunday 19 June, with the same three-race programme in the Royal Sandringham Estate, a private home for four generations of British monarchs since 1862.
The initial event in 2021 received surprise Royal patronage when HRH Prince William and his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte set the runners off with enthusiastic use of the public address system!
The 2021 Run Sandringham Half Marathon winners were David Hudson (Huntingdonshire AC, 1:08:48) and W40 Kate Murrell (Tri-Anglia TC, 1:26:48). The fastest 5K runners were Ashley Gilbert (Dereham Runners, 21:12) and W40 Marie French (Ryston Runners, 23:04).
Run Sandringham has expanded to incorporate three visits to the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen. Good Running Events will return to Sandringham Estate on 20-21 August for a brand new Run Sandringham 24-hour race and on 25 September for Run Sandringham 10K.
