New 5K for Run Loch Lomond

Take the high road to the popular family run fest

Organisers West Dumbartonshire Council have added a brand new 5K race to their popular family running festival on the bonny, bonny banks of Loch Lomond.

In addition to the Loch Lomond 10K and family fun run, the 2022 edition of Run Loch Lomond – to be held on Saturday, 18 June – will feature the Loch Lomond 5K, for all runners over the age of 11.

Organisers promise participants one of the most scenic races of their year, with both routes offering runners stunning views of Loch Lomond and Balloch Castle Country Park.

They also add that all of the 5K route and most of the 10K route don’t use roadside pavements, making the runs more enjoyable and ‘almost exhaust fume free’.

In fact, the 5K is held entirely within the grounds of Balloch Castle Country Park.

Organisers encourage the whole family to get involved this summer. They told runABC Scotland, “Run Loch Lomond is a fun, feel-good event that suits all ability levels, from elite to fun runners. The long-established children’s fun run – for babies up to those in P7 – also provides the opportunity for our youngest of runners to get involved.”

With many years of experience behind them, the organisers pride themselves in delivering an extremely high-quality event and hope to raise significant funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.

All finishers will receive a technical running t-shirt, a quality bespoke medal, generous prize categories, water, discount vouchers for local services and family entertainment.
