Light Up, Light Up
Get a sneak peak of this year's Blackpool Illuminations as you run 7.5K and raise money for a local charity...
Great news for runners looking for a glow up on the cheap… the Blackpool Night Run is back for 2021 on Wednesday, 1 September and it's free to enter. Yes free!
The Blackpool Illuminations are one of life's 'must sees'. At least that's what my mum told me in 1988 when we travelled three hours by coach to see them! That's enough about my childhood though, as I remember the lights are pretty special in their own right and certainly will provide a splendid backdrop to a fun run.
This event is free to enter but organiser, Brian House Children's Hospice, is asking each Night Runner to try and raise £30 in sponsorship or make a one-off donation to the charity.
Brian House provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people in Blackpool and on the Fylde coast who have a life-limiting condition. The care provided is completely free of charge however it costs over £1.3 million a year to keep the doors of Brian House open.
By taking part in Blackpool Night Run, raising sponsorship and wearing the Brian House colours as you dash under the Illuminations you will help raise awareness and funds to allow the hospice to continue supporting families.
At the launch in 2019 almost 6,000 participants came together and raised £73,000 for the Bispham charity and it's hoped that this year will be just as big a success.
On the night you will join thousands of other fundraisers to run, jog or skip along the 7.5km route under the famous Blackpool Illuminations on a traffic-free promenade. It’s the perfect opportunity to have a sneak peek of the lights before the official switch-on.
