Happy group of runners at an Action Heart event

Beat goes on at the Action Heart 5

Two runs for one heart-warming charity on a woodland course in Baggeridge Country Park.

Put a spring in your step at the Action Heart 5 (Sunday 5 March) and support the work of the local cardiac rehab charity based at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley. New for this year is a 5K race as an alternative to the 5 miles.

It’s back to Baggeridge on 5 March with an undulating course on woodland paths and tracks where friendly marshals will be giving everyone a word (or several words) of encouragement. Expect a well organised charity event starting at 10.30am.

Baggeridge Country Park is an award winning green space with a wide range of facilities including walking trails, horse riding trails and mountain bike trails. The terrain is a mix of woodland, grassland and wetland and there are more than a few hills to go with the flat sections.

The 2023 event consists of an extended two lap 5 miler and a one lap 5K – both of which are chip timed and in a very attractive setting. There is a water station for topping up fluid levels.

There are category prizes and finishers t-shirts along with a warm glow of satisfaction at a rewarding event.

The Action Heart cardiovascular and exercise rehabilitation programme is comprehensive and designed to support heart patients on their road to recovery. Counselling, education, exercise and lifestyle assessment plus regular re-assessments in a 12 month programme which is one of the longest running in the UK. Fundraising events and donations help it continue with its vital work.
