Ultimate Running in the North
Roy Castle's Ultimate Run Series is back, will you Defeat Delamere?
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation's Ultimate Run Series is back for 2024 and the good news for runners in the north is that there is a Cheshire event on the rota! Defeat Delamere is scheduled for 15 September and will see runners tackle a scenic trail course through Delamere Forest.
There are two other events which are located a little further south in Nottinghamshire (Smash Sherwood on 30 June) and in Staffordshire (Conquer Cannock on 28 July). All three events mentioned have a choice of distances, so runners can opt for a 5K or 10K race experience.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation have teamed up with Forestry England to host this competitive series across the UK, speaking about the events a spokesperson from Roy Castle said: "Join us to smash, conquer and defeat these runs throughout 2024!"
Delamere provides runners with the thrill of running through a gorgeous woodland site, over winding gravel paths, pushing themselves through a mixture of inclines dotted around the route. The course is signposted and well marshalled and covers stunning views of the forest.
As this is a trail run, runners can potentially expect mixed terrain, hills, loose surfaces and exposed tree roots – all adding to the thrill of the chase.
