Kilmarnock’s 10K Experience
More than just a race, this Ayrshire event is a festival of running and community spirit...
This year's Roon the Toon 10K is set to bring thousands of runners to Kilmarnock’s Ayrshire Athletics Arena for a thrilling fast and flat race through the town and surrounding countryside. With top-class entertainment, a legendary goody bag and a post-race party to remember, this event has become a must-run on the Scottish racing calendar.
The 10K route gives runners a true tour of Kilmarnock, starting at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena and heading through the south of the town centre before winding through residential areas and onto the scenic roads near Caprington Castle. The return journey takes competitors through the one-way system and pedestrian areas of Kilmarnock’s town centre before the final stretch back to the finish line at the Arena.
Every finisher will be well rewarded, with a race t-shirt, medal, a goody bag packed with surprises and even a free ticket to a Kilmarnock FC home game (conditions apply). After crossing the finish line, the celebrations continue at The Park Hotel, where runners can enjoy a free pint, Prosecco, or fruit juice plus heavily discounted prices on the post-race buffet.
For those who keep coming back, the rewards get even better. Any runner who completes five Roon the Toon races can claim a unique bonus sweatshirt or hoodie - but they must apply within two weeks of their fifth finish.
With a prize fund of over £4,000, the stakes are high for elite athletes, and there’s an extra £100 bonus on offer for anyone who can break the current men’s (29:58), women’s (33:21) or wheelchair (24:28) course records.
