Brighton Marathon

Rock On At Brighton Marathon

There will be sun, sea, cheers and tears as thousands take to the streets this weekend (Sunday 15 April) for top South coast race - Brighton Marathon

The lively seaside resort will be busier than usual due to three days of events that together comprise the Brighton Marathon Weekend. There are the Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Mini Mile races on Saturday with the BM10K and the Brighton Marathon on Sunday.

The Event Village will be open from Friday to Sunday and is located on Brighton Beach, bringing a real holiday atmosphere to the race occasion. There won’t be any sticks of rock or ‘Kiss Me Quick’ hats; instead runners will collect their race packs and choose their Start Corral according to their predicted finishing time.

This is the second year British-only athletes will be invited to compete with £2,000 for the winner and prizes for the first 8 men and women. There are also time bonuses that start at £250 for sub-2:20 (men) and sub-2:40 (women), providing an extra incentive to push beyond their limits.

So who will be amongst the elite athletes toeing the line at this year’s marathon? The 2017 men’s and women’s winners Stuart Hawkes and Helen Davies will be defending their titles and face stiff competition in what will be a fiercely contested race. For everyone else it will be about completing their first marathon, achieving that desired PB or enjoying the experience while being beside the seaside.

Note: there is a new start time of 9.45am and a few changes to the marathon course. Visit the website for details.
