Redway Runners launch in Newport Pagnell

On the pathway to success with the Redway Runners

Multi-award winning Redway Runners must have one of the best value annual memberships of any RunTogether running group around. A mere £5 gets you full annual membership – up to 15 months if you join between January and March – and there is the option to pay £16.50 extra for full England Athletics affiliation.

The Milton Keynes-based group has grown from humble beginnings in 2011 to almost 4,000 paid up members today, making Redway Runners one of the largest clubs in Britain. The 2017 England Athletics Club of the Year for the east region and the national runners-up were awarded the Bucks and Milton Keynes Sport Group of the Year award last year.

Redway Runners enjoy over 200 miles (322kms) of safe and well-lit, red surfaced foot and cycle paths that criss-cross the city of Milton Keynes and most of their runs are based from David Lloyd Health Club in Newlands or Mercedes-Benz Training Centre in Tongwell.

However, since 21 January 2020, residents in Newport Pagnell can now also benefit from two weekly running sessions with Redway Runners. Local residents appealed to the club for runs in the area and the first session was formally opened by Councillor Paul Day, Newport Pagnell Mayor, with a ribbon cutting ceremony (pictured above).

The new runs include a free beginner's course supported by Body Limits Treatment Clinic with only 40 places available and they were all snapped up within 4 days! This new course is just one of 11 that Redway Runners have launched this year, with a record 450 new runners signing up and working towards completing the Milton Keynes parkrun in March 2020.

Milton Keynes is the 2020 European City of Sport and Redway Runners are committed to help the people of Newport Pagnell start their running journey. Martin Lawrence, chair of Redway Runners, said: We have run over 100 beginner's courses which means we have a tried and tested framework in place. It's amazing to see a 50% increase in bookings and we have still not being able to meet all of the demand as they are sold out almost immediately”.

Mark Booth, owner of Body Limits Treatment Clinic in Newport Pagnell, said: “When we presented an opportunity to collaborate with Redway Runners we were delighted to support local residents to help them meet their running goals”.

Redway Runners is an all-inclusive running club, with sessions every day of the week to suit the needs of all people. For more information visit Redway Runners here
