Redcar Running Festival

PB-Friendly Coastal Racing

Redcar Running Festival returns this September with its popular PB-friendly coastal courses...

The Redcar Running Festival is set to return on 21 September, promising a day of fast, flat racing on the stunning North East coastline. With certified, traffic-free routes and a buzzing seaside atmosphere, the event offers something for runners of all ages and abilities.

Organised by New Marske Harriers, the festival will feature a Half Marathon and Zetland 10K as well as a new-look 3K Young Athletes Race and Fun Run. Organisers told us: "The 5K event has been dropped this year to free up capacity for the more popular 10K and Half Marathon, both of which filled up quickly in 2024."

Speaking about the course, they continued: “All races take place on flat, closed roads along the seafront, offering ideal conditions for personal bests. With fantastic spectator support, it’s an unforgettable finish-line experience.”

Starting from Zetland Park, runners will take in views of the beach and Esplanade, with the Half Marathon following a spectator-friendly two-lap course between Redcar and Marske. The new 3K Fun Run aims to appeal to younger runners and those stepping up from shorter distances. It is worth noting that the Half Marathon will once again serve as an England Athletics Masters qualifying race.

Entries are limited due to parking restrictions, and organisers are offering a £6 discount for 10K and Half Marathon entries received before 1 September. Every finisher will receive a medal and event t-shirt, with plenty of time afterwards to enjoy everything Redcar has to offer – from its medieval priory and piers to its famous long beach.
