Redcar's Celebration Of Running Returns
Head to the North Yorks coast for this autumn spectacular...
This year's staging of the Redcar Running Festival will take place on 24 September and whether it's the 2K Fun Run, Zetland 10K, Beacon 5K or Half Marathon that takes your fancy, there really is something for everyone at this fantastic celebration of running.
All events run out along the sea front, which is flat, flat flat! PB anyone? The races start from Zetland Park, with the half marathon taking place over a spectator-friendly, two-loop course of the Coast Road between Redcar & Marske and the Esplanade.
Organised by the Council in partnership with Everyone Active and New Marske Harriers, this fun festival is always popular with runners of all abilities from across the region. And it's popular with spectators too - so expect a roaring crowd and an unbeatable finish-line experience.
New Marske Harriers has been organising road races for over 30 years, they say: "We have tried to always be ahead of the curve introducing new innovations whilst holding to the principle of providing races for club runners and providing value for money rather than being driven by the profit motive. Any profits are used to promote the sport of athletics and running within the borough of Redcar & Cleveland and supporting causes that enhance the environment for runners"
Commenting on Facebook after last year's event, Dan Fawkes said: "Fantastic event today! Huge thanks to all organisers and supporters for getting behind it!"
In 2022's Half Marathon it was Gregory Jayasuriya of Middlesbrough & Cleveland Harriers who won the race in a time of 1:09:18 while first female home was Tracy Biney in 1:29:18. Over in the 10K, the title was claimed by New Marske Harrier Thomas Aspin in 33:51 while the women's race was won by Emily Palmer of Stockton Striders in 40:39.
