Fly High at Spadeadam Trail Races
Head to Cumbria for this unique and fun trail running event...
Trail Outlaws has worked with RAF Spadeadam and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) in recent years to put on their popular half marathon and 10 Mile Bergen Challenge events - in 2024 things will be a little different with a new 10K distance accompanying the half marathon and a spring date of 5 May making a change from the usual September timing.
Organisers say: "This event offers runners an 'out of this world' opportunity to take part in trail half marathon and 10K races at the historic RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria. Come and take part in this not to be missed event, run around the historic base that was part of the UK's missile project during the cold war."
The course offers stunning views along its length, winding its way around and through Spadeadam Forest with views over to the Lake District and Sycamore Gap on Hadrians Wall. With numerous RAF practice targets and tanks along the route, it is a run that offers a unique opportunity.
Speaking about the impending event, organisers said: "Trail Outlaws are delighted to be co-hosts of this event and we have to give full credit to the team at the base and the Royal Air Force Benevolent fund that want to see this race continue and grow."
All those who take part will receive a hot drink and sandwich as well as a bespoke medal and memento. Race t-shirts will also be available as an addditional purchase.
