Wymeswold Ready For A Right Royal Waddle
Runners will celebrate the King’s coronation at this quacker of a run!
The Bank Holiday Coronation weekend is fast approaching and so is the Wymeswold Waddle & Family Fun Run on Sunday 7 May. Participants will mark the occasion with a 5 mile race or 2K Fun Run then enjoy the activities afterwards at this village event from Wymeswold Running Club.
There’ll be more than a toddle at the Waddle when runners of all standards take to the roads for an out and back 5 mile race in a picturesque setting. It starts at 10.30am from outside the Windmill Pub (also the site for the finish) and is uphill for the first half then downhill for the second half. Runners can expect a friendly, well marshalled and supported race on closed roads.
Anyone who wishes to go the ‘full duck’ and wear a costume is welcome to do so.
It’s followed by the 2K Family Fun Run which is also on a closed road course. There are trophies for the winning boy and girl and medals for all finishers.
The day continues with a fly past from a spitfire, live music, stalls, food and drink and kids rides as part of the celebrations. There are ‘duck races’ featuring everyone’s favourite bathtime toy and for energetic youngsters, an obstacle course called ‘Tough Ducker’. This is definitely a race for them to dip their toe (or beak) into.
It’ll be a grand affair in the best British tradition which is supporting Wolds Community First Responders and Wymeswold Pre-School.
