Pride In Vicky Park
London Frontrunners welcomes everyone to their 21st Pride Run 10K...
What better time than at the end of Pride month – June is dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities worldwide – to remind you that Pride Run 10K returns to London's beautiful Victoria Park for its 21st-anniversary celebration on Saturday 21 September 2024.
Pride Run 10K is a not-for-profit race organised by volunteers from London Frontrunners, an inclusive running and triathlon club for lesbians, gay and bisexual men and women, transgender people and their allies, formed in 1995 as part of International Front Runners, a network of LGBTQ+ running clubs from all over the world. runABC South featured London Frontrunners in this Q&A article in 2018...
“Vicky Park”, as it is known locally, is London’s oldest public park. Opened in 1845 for the benefit of the East End working class, “The People’s Park” has a long and rich history spanning over 170 years. The perennial Green Flag and Green Heritage award-winning park is the largest park in Tower Hamlets, receiving over nine million visitors each year who enjoy a wide range of community activities, events, live music, and sports.
One of the most colourful and joyous of those events is the annual Pride Run 10K with 600-plus runners making their way around the flat, three-lap course. Last year's race saw 635 finishers in 1:41:56. The front runners were London Frontrunners' own Cameron Hutton (34:13) and Trent Park Running Club member Jen Baird (W40, 39:26). There were 465 finishers inside 60 minutes.
A key element of Pride Run 10K is the unmissable after-party at the People's Park Tavern, where the post-run deal for a drink, burger, and fries proved to be just the ticket last year!
Pride Run 10K also raises funds for local charities. This year's partner charity is the Micro Rainbow International Foundation – click here for more information.
The race starts at 11:00am on Saturday 26 September 2024 at Victoria Park, Cadogan Terrace, London E9 5EG – just 10 minutes walk from Hackney Wick station. To secure your entry for £28/£30 visit the Pride Run 10K entries page here.
