Preston ready for showcase 10K
The JD Gyms City of Preston 10K will continue its life under the direction of Sports Tours International next Sunday (29 September) with upwards of 2,000 competitors expected to take part in the only event that moves through the heart of Preston City Centre.
Formerly known as the Run Preston 10K, the race switched hands in 2018 and enjoyed a record turnout last year – big numbers are once again expected but places are still available and runners can sign up here.
The race will see participants start and finish on Market Street with a route that moves into the beautiful Avenham Park and takes in the countryside scenery around the River Ribble, before coming back through the park and back onto Market Street to finish in front of the city centre crowds.
The 10k will be staged under the new Running Bee Foundation banner, an initiative which returns all race profits to community projects. Founded and supported by Sports Tours International, the charity aims to improve the health and well being of local residents and to help tackle the challenge of childhood obesity.
All of the profits from Sports Tours International’s nine UK runinng events – the X-Trail 10K, Hell on the Fell, Hero Half Marathon, Dr Ron Hill Hyde 7, UKFast City of Manchester 10K, UKFast City of Salford 10K, Alder Hey 10K and City of Preston 10K – go directly to the foundation.
