Perth Ready To Party
Perth's 10K is 40 years young this summer...
Head to Perthshire this summer to join in the 40th anniversary celebrations for the Fair City's popular and long running 10K race. The Perth 10K Festival will take place on 27 August, with organisers hoping that once again the sun will shine down on all competitors, making a great day out for all.
The race has long had a reputation for inclusivity, with ‘First or last, it's the same finishing line’ its guiding principle. Speaking about the event, organisers told runABC: "Come and join us to celebrate our 40th Anniversary race in 2023! We want the Perth 10K to be for everyone, whether you’re coming to win, aiming for a PB or taking part in your first race and just want to complete it.
"It’s all about having a positive experience, having fun and crossing the finish line feeling that you did way better than you thought before the start. We want to create an event where everyone is supportive of each other and can celebrate together."
The Perth 10K route is flat and fast, starting and finishing on the North Inch. The route follows the riverside path, part of route 77 of the National Cycle Network, goes through North Muirton, along through the Perth Food Park before rejoining the riverside path, back to the North Inch and the finish.
As in previous years, the main 10K event – open to runners of all abilities aged 16+ – will be accompanied by 3K and 1.5K fun runs, for children aged 12–15 inclusive and 11 and under respectively.
All runners will receive a medal, and 10K prizes will be offered in the usual age group categories. There will also be prizes for the fastest male and female runners from the PH1/PH2 post codes.
