The Tour Of Bradwell Event

Racers set for cooler conditions this weekend

The heatwave has broken and cooler temperatures are forecast this weekend (11-12 August) so perfect weather for running. Make the most of this with a short or long race on road, track or trail.

Take a trip around Bradwell in the Peak District and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in Derbyshire. There is the 16-mile Half Tour or the 33-mile Long Tour with both races requiring entrants to navigate a tricky course featuring several steep climbs. Kinder Scout, Stanage Edge, Lose Hill and Win Hill are a few of the ascents on offer. Rrunners in both events must carry the mandatory kit due to the unpredictable weather and terrain.

We have a two-day event from Enigma Running who are known for their multi-lap races and distinctive medals, several of which are movie themed. The Enigma Show Me The Money Marathon and Half Marathon is held at Caldecotte, Milton Keynes and involves running clockwise (Saturday) and anti-clockwise (Sunday) laps around the picturesque Caldecotte Lake. Note: there is a 50k option but on Saturday only. Every finisher will receive a bespoke ‘Dollar bill’ medal.

The film theme continues in Shropshire with the Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute Marathon plus a Half Marathon and 10K. The event takes place at Shrewsbury Sports Village where runners, many in fancy dress, complete numerous laps around a purpose built cycle track accompanied by music and in a social atmosphere. This is a fast course where last year over 75% of entrants achieved a PB and were awarded a ‘Frank N. Furter’ style medal for their efforts.
