Nottingham Goose Fair Gallop 10K

The Goose Fair Gallop is an established 10K mixed terrain race organised by Kimberley & District Striders. The route explores the countryside around Bennerley Viaduct and the Erewash Canal, with the historic railway viaduct providing a distinctive centrepiece to the course.

Runners tackle a mainly flat but varied route across canal towpaths, country trails, gravel tracks and sections of smooth pavement. The course crosses Bennerley Viaduct itself, known as the Iron Giant, where runners also encounter a series of steep steps. Changing surfaces and less maintained trail sections add variety to an otherwise largely level 10K.

The race has been part of the local running calendar since 1987 and combines a friendly club organised atmosphere with a distinctive setting. Chip timing is used to record results, while finishers receive post race rewards. Its mixture of waterside running, countryside trails and industrial heritage gives the Goose Fair Gallop a character of its own.
