North Lakes Races Return In 2025
Popular New Year event will make its comeback in 2025 and we're told it has PB potential!
In 2025 the North Lakes New Year Half Marathon and 10K will return after a year away from the race calendar. On 9 February runners will enjoy running through the quiet country lanes of the stunning Lorton Valley with epic views across to the Lakes.
A spokesperson from Wild Deer Events said: "This popular, established event has had a breather in 2024 and we aim to bring it back even stronger in 2025. There will be improved routes starting and finishing in Cockermouth Town Centre, taking in this wonderful part of the Lakes."
Set in the base of the stunning Lorton valley, you will be surrounded by lakeland fells on a course that is quite gentle by Cumbrian standards, on quiet rolling roads with no 'major' hills. There will also be a fantastic Town Centre Finish where spectators can watch you across that finish line.
The event headquarters will be located at Cockermouth Marketplace, within the town of Cockermouth. There is ample parking around the town all within walking distance of the start and finish. There are also lots of points on the new route where friends and family can spectate within to town itself.
Final word to the organisers: "Without the support of the local community the half marathon would not happen. We are very fortunate to be supported by some brilliant businesses and volunteers. We would like to thank the following for all the help in the inaugural event and leading into future events."
