The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the world’s largest marathons and part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Starting on Staten Island, the iconic 26.2 mile route travels through all five boroughs of New York City before reaching its famous finish in Central Park.
Runners follow a rolling road course through Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan, crossing major bridges including the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge and Queensboro Bridge along the way. The varied profile and later hills provide a challenging finish, while huge crowds and neighbourhood support create the distinctive atmosphere for which the New York City Marathon is known.
The TCS New York City Marathon attracts runners from around the world for a unique road marathon through the five boroughs. From the opening crossing into Brooklyn to the final miles through Manhattan and Central Park, the course combines challenging city running, landmark views and extensive spectator support throughout the 26.2 miles.
