Priory Ultra Route

New Ultra For Northumberland

There's a stunning new ultra event coming to the North East in 2026...

Wild Deer Events has announced an exciting new addition to the UK ultra-running calendar for 2026: The Priory 100K Ultra. Taking place on 6 June 2026, this breathtaking challenge will see runners journey along one of Britain’s most spectacular coastlines, from the shadow of Bamburgh Castle to the historic gates of Tynemouth Priory.

The Northumberland Ultra Trail promises a route rich in beauty and heritage with organisers describing The Priory as one of the UK’s most scenic and rewarding ultras, designed to test endurance while showcasing the best of the Northumberland coastline.

They told us: "Runners will take in some of the region’s most iconic coastal landmarks, including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village and Warkworth Castle. The final miles will lead runners through Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay and Cullercoats before reaching an unforgettable finish beneath the walls of Tynemouth Priory."

The 100K route will be a point-to-point race, meaning runners must make their own way to the start line near Bamburgh, but bag transfer will be provided to the finish at Tynemouth. Early estimates suggest a total elevation of around 2,400 feet, with the final route to be confirmed soon.

Early bird entries are now open, if you'd like to know more, visit the Wild Deer Events website.
