From Sunset To Sunrise
There's a new ultra for the Ayrshire coast next summer...
Experience the stunning Ayrshire coast from sunset to sunrise at a brand new ultra event which will hit the road next summer. The aptly named Ayrshire Coast Sunset Ultra is scheduled for 6 June with organisers, Run Llama, promising that their inaugural event will be an: "Enjoyable inclusive and exciting experience for runners and their families."
The distance on offer is 50K (25K out and back) with runners starting at Irvine Beach at 10.30pm. Organisers comment: "If weather conditions are clear it's very possible you will run into a setting sun and return back into a rising sun!"
The route, distance and support on offer makes this a fantastic opportunity for those looking attempt their first ultramarathon. It’s also an opportunity for those more seasoned runners, racing later in the year, to hone their night running skills in a safe environment. Those taking part will enjoy running on beaches, promenades and trails.
Organisers suggest runners can 'spot aid stations glowing up like Blackpool illuminations from miles away' and these stations will house water, sweets, cake and crisps at 12K, 25K and 37K. There are also various points where family and friends can meet runners along the route and this is actively encouraged.
Run Llama is passionate about getting more people running and seeing the team achieve their goals and progress through their running journey.
