Yomping Into 2023

There's a new 'Lomies' trail race coming to Fife in the new year...

There's a brand new trail race heading to Fife in 2023 and with an early January date it could be just the ticket for getting your year off to a racing start! And when you hear it described as a 'superb undulating trail race destined to be an instant classic' then you'll definitely want to know more. Lucky for you, we're here to help with that!

Organised by Lomond Hill Runners, The Falkland Yomp will take place on 8 January and is an 11K race that takes in 480m of ascent. The route links up many of the best trails in 'runners' favourite' - Falkland Estate and involves two long and steady climbs with a decisive sharp climb close to the finish! Organisers describe the event thus: "Exhilarating descents and a superb mixture of gravel, rooted trail and forest track not to mention one short sharp beast near the end. Good grippy trail shoes are a must."

Those famililar with running at Falkland Estate will already know of sections such as the Zig Zags, Temple of Indecision, Iron Arch, Witches Cave and Wee B'stard Hill and those who aren't yet familiar with the course are surely tempted by names like these! It is worth noting that £3 of the entry fee goes to Falkland Estate to support the maintenance and development of their excellent trail network that many runners enjoy using.

If the course description hasn't sealed it for you, then the final word from Lomond Hill Runners may do just that: "It wouldn't be a Lomie event without our post race vegetarian/vegan hot soup, water and snacks."
