Newcastle Dales Dash

New Summer Date for Dash

This scenic trail race has a new summer date...

There's a new summer date for the Newcastle Dales Dash. Ordinarily a December race, a cancellation due to bad weather in 2023 has prompted the seasonal change for 2024 and so 16 June will see runners lace up their trainers for an unforgettable experience around the stunning Apedale Country Park.

Organisers say: "Don't miss your chance to be part of this thrilling event. Whether you're a seasoned runner or looking for a fun challenge, the Dales Dash promises an exciting run for all. Join us for a day filled with energy and breathtaking scenery. Let's make this summer version of the Dales Dash one to remember!"

The 5 Miles (ish) course is new since 2021. It is an off-road, multi-terrain route that undulates through Apedale and Lymedale. The surfaces include tarmac, limestone, grass and a wooden boardwalk. Runners will enjoy the views across North Staffordshire and Cheshire before being rewarded with a medal and water.

Speaking about the course, organisers added: "It wouldn’t be an off-road race without hills and there are a fair few of ‘em at the Dales Dash especially at the start and finish. There is nothing to beat a good climb and a test of your fitness levels and leg strength as you run through Apedale and Lymedale with other trail devotees."

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female, first veteran male and female in each age group, and there are some spot prizes too. Other prizes include four ‘Margaret Barker’ trophies which are awarded to the women’s winner; first Newcastle (Staffs) AC female; first U16 Girl and first U16 Boy (open). These trophies are a tribute to the late Margaret Barker from her friends at the athletics club and Apedale Heritage Centre.
