Redcar Returns
Plenty of racing options at this autumn running festival...
The north east town of Redcar is a fantastic place to holiday thanks to its beach - one of the longest unbroken beaches in the UK in fact! Not to mention its mediaeval priory, pleasure piers and quality waves for surfing. If you want to test your running skills as well as your ice cream eating skills though, make sure your visit falls on 22 September when this year's Redcar Running Festival will be taking place.
Organised by the Council in partnership with Everyone Active and New Marske Harriers, this fun festival is always popular with runners of all abilities from across the region. And it's popular with spectators too - so expect a roaring crowd and an unbeatable finish-line experience.
Runners can choose from the 2K Fun Run, Zetland 10K, Beacon 5K and Half Marathon which are all on offer on the day. All events run out along the sea front, which is flat, flat, flat!
The races start from Zetland Park, with the half marathon taking place over a spectator-friendly, two-loop course of the Coast Road between Redcar & Marske and the Esplanade.
Organisers comment: "All events will be taking place along the sea front, this flat surface will provide you with the perfect PB conditions. Embrace the roar of the crowds for the great finish line feeling."
Every finishers receives a t-shirt and a medal as well as being able to enjoy this lovely seaside town for the rest of the day.
