Run In The Glow of Glamis
A new night time race for Scotland this October...
With a summer that never really got started, it might be a tough pill to swallow thinking about the dark nights that will now come round all too quickly... but the promise of a brand new night time race might make that pill a little easier to 'get over'. The Glamis Castle Glow Run opens for entries tomorrow (24 August) and promises to be a bright, bold and magical occasion on 12 October.
Organised by Wee Run Events, the new event involves a 5K or 10K night run around the stunning Glamis Castle grounds. A spokesperson said: "Join us for a magical night run under the stars - the Glow Run is a fun run for trail runners, joggers, new and experienced alike. As this is a new event for 2024 we have limited entries so book your place to avoid disappointment!"
Found in the heart of Angus, Glamis Castle has been the ancestral seat to the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne since 1372. Once the inspiration for William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Glamis is renowned for its rich history and famous visitors, from Mary, Queen of Scots to James V. So it's got the history.
Runners will start at the front of the picturesque castle and follow the lit-up trail along the grounds, circling back to the castle for a finish. Follow the glow sticks around stunning castle grounds.
There will be medals for all finishers which have been handcrafted by the Workshop, Aberfeldy.
Wee Run Events' say: "With over 40 years' event experience we pride ourselves on creating and delivering events that are fun and challenging. We run events you love to run!"
