Runners set to gallop at Haydock Park in August
The Running Bee Foundation has announced plans for a new 10K at famous Lancashire racecourse
As progress out of lockdown continues and runners look ahead to events later in the year, there is further good news with the launch of the Haydock Park Racecourse 10K. The new event, scheduled for Sunday, 15 August, joins the Running Bee Foundation's programme of top North West 10Ks.
The Running Bee team is delighted to add the exciting racecourse location to their race calendar which also includes top Manchester, Salford and Preston 10K events.
Graham Jackson at the Running Bee told runABC North: "We're currently finalising plans for the race route but the historic racecourse setting is what will make this event special. We're confident that it will join Manchester, Salford and Preston as a hugely popular 10K race.
"Haydock Park offers a unique backdrop and is neatly located between Manchester and Liverpool plus runners will also receive official chip timing, water on route, an exclusive finishers T-shirt and medal."
Graham continued: "As we emerge from lockdown, runners will be looking for big events like Haydock to get back into a racing routine and to find out how successful their lockdown training has been.
"We're also looking to welcome many new participants who have taken to running and jogging in the last 12 months. There's nothing quite like the thrill of race day – it really does inspire you to a strong performance."
A further bonus is that all profits from Running Bee events supports community initiatives across the region, and helps to promote health, wellbeing and the fight to tackle and reduce childhood obesity.
To support the Running Bee health promotion objectives August's Haydock Park event will include the £5 MyFirstMile fun run aimed at first-timers and open to all ages and ability levels. This fun run isn't timed and all finishers will receive a special medal at the end.
