New Half Marathon For Falkirk
Two bridges, and two giant horse heads are the main attractions at this brand new half marathon...
The racing scene in Falkirk is on fire at the moment with what seems like new races for the area announced every week! This time we bring you news of the inaugural Kelpies Half Marathon which is planned for 22 September this year.
Scurry Events and Everyrunner Events are coming together to deliver this new event for Falkirk's Helix Park, they say: "Why would you not want to sign up to this flat, fast race giving you the best chance to get that Half Marathon PB you have always craved!"
As the name suggests, the race will start and finish at the Kelpies with the rest of the race action taking place in the surrounding countryside with runners crossing the Firth of Forth twice using the Clackmannanshire Bridge and then back over the Kincardine Bridge.
After a run round the magnificent beasts, runners will head under the bridge towards Skinflats enjoying the back roads and paths towards the Clackmannanshire Bridge. Running over the bridge runners will have a stunning view of the Forth to the left and the Kincardine Bridge to the right.
Organisers say: "The views at the bridge are absolutely stunning, shortly after you will turn up the only short hill in our race (30m) and turn right towards the village of Kincardine - a beautiful wee village and up towards the lovely Kincardine Bridge."
As runners reach the final canal path they will see on the near horizon those magnificent Kelpies again and from there it is just a short stretch before coming under the bridge at the Kelpies with a finish on the green.
