Rasselbock Marathon and Half Marathon

New Races For Notts

Half and full marathon distances are on offer at this new event for Sherwood Pines Forest...

21 July is the date for the first ever Rasselbock Marathon and Half Marathon which will take place in Nottinghamshire's iconic Sherwood Pines Forest this summer. Organisers say: "It’s sure to be an incredible day in the forest as we welcome runners from all walks of life to hit their goals."

Sherwood Pines is located just east of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. It is a stunning 3,300-acre forest with multiple activities to keep families and adrenaline junkies entertained.

The half marathon will see runners take on a beautiful 13.1-mile loop of the forest, while those entered in the full marathon will complete the loop twice. The trails and fire roads will take runners around all areas of the forest, from those teaming with life to areas of blissful quiet.

Speaking about the races, organisers say: "With long cut-off times for both events (5 hours for the half and 8 hours for the full), we hope that the event will be as accessible as possible to runners of all abilities and backgrounds."

The start and finish line will be located in the area of the forest called the arena, and in the centre will be the event village. When those taking part return to the arena at the end of their run (and halfway through for those taking on the marathon), they will run a loop around the full event village where they can expect support from everyone watching and waiting, as well as the event MC and DJ.

In the event village there will be local food and drinks vendors alongside small local businesses. The event village will be open for the full day and makes for the perfect spot for families and supporters to relax between cheering their loved ones on.
